2nd Blog

One detail in The Book Thief that stood out to me was the setting of the book. This book was set in the time during the Holocaust which was a time known for brutal treatment towards Jewish people. Hearing about all of the horrible actions that were mentioned in the book like making people walk through the freezing cold snow, most without a pair of shoes. I think that the treatment was just downright cruel and no human should be treated that way because of their religion or their lifestyle. It's honestly so demeaning to know that the world was once in such bad shape with crematoriums and gas chambers. I know that the book is not directly focused on the Holocaust but it is a crucial detail for the setting and pops up here and there. Hearing about how everyone was shoved into trains and people being buried in towns they've never even heard of just sounds downright evil. I guess that was the whole idea behind the Holocaust, I mean, how much more evil could it get? The song I chose to represent this blog post is the song "Human" by Christina Perri. It basically explains that we're all just human and we can't change who we are. Being tortured because you're a Jew is so heartbreaking because they couldn't change who they were or what they believed in, it was how they were raised. The picture I found that matched the idea of this blog is a picture of the children being taken into the concentration camps from their parents. This picture really touches the heart, can you imagine losing track of your parents and probably not seeing them again even after you were released from your camp?
